Melis and Michael’s intimate wedding at Arrow Park in Monroe, New York was a great example of how much can happen in a smaller celebration. With their closest family and friends around them, the day felt personal without being overly formal. It was relaxed, energetic, and focused on the two of them.
Their ceremony took place in the sunken garden, which gave the beginning of the day a quiet and intimate setting. The ceremony itself was straightforward and meaningful, with everyone gathered close to watch Melis and Michael officially begin this next part of their lives together.
After the ceremony, we spent time moving throughout the property to capture portraits. Arrow Park gave us plenty of different locations to work with, and Melis and Michael were easy to film throughout all of it. They were comfortable together, which made it possible to capture a lot of natural interaction instead of relying on overly staged moments.
That made a big difference in the final wedding video. The best footage was not necessarily the biggest moments. It was the small interactions, the way they moved together, the quick looks, the laughter, and everything that happened naturally between the planned parts of the day.
The finished video brought all of those pieces together. It told the story of the wedding without needing to overcomplicate it. The ceremony, portraits, family, friends, and reception all had their own place, and the final result felt like an accurate reflection of Melis and Michael’s day.
The reception was a completely different pace. Once everyone was together, the dance floor stayed alive for the entire night. There was a lot of energy in the room, and that made for some of the most fun footage of the evening. People were dancing, celebrating, and spending time together without worrying about the camera.
That is one of my favorite things about wedding video. The goal is not to make the day look like something it wasn’t. It is to capture what was actually there. With Melis and Michael, there was plenty of genuine energy to work with.
Their wedding at Arrow Park was intimate without feeling small. The day had a good balance between quieter moments and a reception that was anything but quiet. From the ceremony in the sunken garden to the portraits around the property and the packed dance floor later that night, everything came together naturally.
The finished wedding video gave Melis and Michael a way to go back to those moments and experience the day again. For an intimate Hudson Valley wedding, that was exactly what it needed to be.
